Forma imperativa del verbo latino conferre, que significa literalmente ‘compara’. Remite a la consulta de un determinado texto o pasaje y se utiliza siempre en sus formas abreviadas cf., cfr., cónf. y cónfr. ( apéndice 2), las dos últimas hoy en desuso: «Sobre la distinción entre discurso de la información y ficción literaria, cfr. el conocido y discutido texto de John Searle» (Escudero Malvinas [Arg. 1996]). Estas abreviaturas deben leerse «cónfer» y no «confróntese». Si se usa como sustantivo masculino, es invariable en plural ( plural, 1k): Aún tengo que revisar los «cónfer» de mi tesis.
